The AGV fleet: technological excellence for high speed
Italo works with a fleet of AGV (Automotrice à Grande Vitesse) high speed trains, designed by Alstom for speeds up to 360 km/h and using the same traction system of the train that established the 574.8 km/h world record speed on rail.
Italo’s 25 AGV trains came into service in April 2012. They were manufactured in the Savigliano (Cuneo) and La Rochelle plants, and travel at a speed up to 300 km/h on Italy’s high speed network.
Each train is 200 metres long and has 11 wagons, offering 462 seats and guaranteeing high comfort, safety and sustainability standards, a technological excellence in the European rail scenario.
