The AGV fleet: technological excellence for high speed

Italo works with a fleet of AGV (Automotrice à Grande Vitesse) high speed trains, designed by Alstom for speeds up to 360 km/h and using the same traction system of the train that established the 574.8 km/h world record speed on rail.

Italo’s 25 AGV trains came into service in April 2012. They were manufactured in the Savigliano (Cuneo) and La Rochelle plants, and travel at a speed up to 300 km/h on Italy’s high speed network.

Each train is 200 metres long and has 11 wagons, offering 462 seats and guaranteeing high comfort, safety and sustainability standards, a technological excellence in the European rail scenario.

Italo EVO: technological evolution and comfort for High Speed

Italo’s fleet also has 26 EVO trains, designed and manufactured by Alstom and acquired following the Board’s decision of 1 October 2015. An evolution of the historical Pendolino family, Italo EVOs are the result of a synthesis between reliability, performance and passenger comfort.

Each train has seven wagons for a total length of 187 metres and a 472 seat capacity. They travel at up to 250 km/h and comply with the most recent European regulations in terms of safety, environment and interoperability (TSI-2014).

Thanks to state of the art technologies and solutions designed to improve the travelling experience, Italo EVOs reinforce the Group’s commitment towards a modern, sustainable and high quality mobility.

Itabus: road mobility for intermodality

They include 4/5G wi-fi, toilets and vending machines and offer Comfort+ and Top environments for comfortable and accessible travelling.

Italo and Itabus share values such as customer care and sustainability: trains made using 98% of recyclable materials and with HEPA filters, buses powered by Eni diesel+ and EURO 6D engines.

Together, they offer an integrated intermodal experience, which can be purchased on the same platform and on one ticket.
