ITALO GROUP’S INTERMODAL NETWORK CONTINUES TO GROW

Rome, 12 October 2026. Italo’s intermodal network continues to grow, thanks to connections between Italo trains and Itabus coaches. Ahead of the winter season, new services have been launched to Cortina d’Ampezzo, Courmayeur and Aosta. In addition, the company has introduced an extensive range of services connecting Parma to the high-speed rail network.

For ski and snow enthusiasts, two intermodal services to Cortina d’Ampezzo are now available. With a single purchase covering both the Italo train and the connecting Itabus coach, passengers can travel from cities such as Rome, Florence, Bologna, Vicenza, Verona, Brescia and Milan to Mestre station. From there, a dedicated Itabus service stops at Longarone, Tai di Cadore and San Vito di Cadore before reaching Cortina d’Ampezzo.

A similar solution is available for passengers travelling to Aosta and Courmayeur: a single transaction covers both the train and coach journey, with a connection at Torino Porta Susa. The destinations can be reached from major Italian cities including Naples, Rome, Florence, Bologna and Milan. Two daily services, one in each direction, connect travellers with some of the most popular winter destinations.

Parma represents another important addition. A major centre for both business and tourism, the city has been connected by Italo to its high-speed network through intermodal services. The new connection brings local residents and the surrounding area closer to high-speed rail services, allowing passengers to purchase a single journey combining the coach connection with rail services at Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana station. Twelve daily services, six in each direction, connect Parma with major cities including Turin, Milan, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples and Salerno.

“We continue to invest in intermodality because we believe it represents the future of transport. We offer integrated train and coach connections across Italy, serving tourist destinations, major business and industrial areas, and places of interest. These new destinations, including Parma, Aosta, Courmayeur and Cortina, are the result of our ongoing commitment to local communities, enabling us to meet previously unmet demand for transport,” said Dora Bonadies, Head of Network & Market Development at Italo.

In addition to these new services, the Italo–Itabus intermodal network already includes connections to Sorrento and the Port of Naples. The Italo Group also provides dedicated travel solutions for major events, making it easier for passengers to reach them, as will be the case for the upcoming Lucca Comics event.

This extensive network of domestic connections is complemented by Itabus’s international services. Just a few weeks ago, the company launched new routes to Germany, with services to Munich. From Turin and Milan, passengers can travel to Munich via Lugano and Chur, while services from Naples, Caserta, Rome, Florence, Bologna, Mantua, Verona, Trento, Bolzano, Bressanone and Vipiteno connect passengers with Innsbruck and Munich.
