Italo and WWF Italy join forces to promote more sustainable mobility and explore Italy’s biodiversity

Rome, April 15, 2026 – Promoting increasingly responsible mobility and bringing more people closer to Nature: this is the objective of the three-year partnership that sees Italo as Mobility Partner of WWF Italy, an alliance that brings together a strong focus on people, tangible benefits for travelers, and support for the Association’s projects and on-the-ground initiatives aimed at protecting ecosystems and species across Italy.

Among these initiatives, WWF Oases represent the organization’s leading conservation project in Italy. With more than 100 protected natural areas, they serve as a vital stronghold for biodiversity conservation, scientific research, and environmental education.

Italo also stands alongside WWF Italy by supporting travel for the WWF Oases Grand Tour, a communication journey that will guide the public through 10 WWF Oases across Italy, organized to celebrate the 60th anniversary of WWF Italy.

The agreement includes concrete benefits for Italo customers: those who support or choose to support WWF Italy through regular donations will be able to purchase tickets in the Prima and Smart classes with a 20% discount on the Low Cost fare.

The partnership is further strengthened by the direct involvement of employees from both organizations, through initiatives dedicated to Italo and WWF Italy staff. In particular, Italo employees will take part in a corporate volunteering day at the WWF Oasis of Macchiagrande, while WWF employees will benefit from travel discounts, with 20% off the Flex fare for their journeys.

Through this partnership, rail mobility becomes a strategic ally in reducing emissions linked to travel and in making Italy’s natural heritage accessible to an ever-wider audience.

“The transport sector is crucial to the energy transition needed to tackle the climate crisis. Mobility must be an ally of environmental protection. For this reason, we are pleased to announce today this important partnership with Italo — a collaboration that looks to the future in the interests of both the environment and passengers,”said Alessandra Prampolini, Director General of WWF Italy.

“Sustainable mobility is a fundamental lever to support the country’s ecological transition and to make Italy’s natural heritage increasingly accessible. Through this partnership with WWF Italy, we reinforce our commitment to promoting a responsible way of traveling, one that combines innovation, environmental respect, and a strong focus on people. We believe that trains can be not only an efficient means of transport, but also a concrete tool to bring citizens and communities closer to the knowledge and protection of biodiversity,”said Gianbattista La Rocca, CEO of Italo – Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori.

A shared journey looking toward the future: because traveling can become not only a means of getting from one place to another, but also a way to discover, respect, and protect Nature.
