ITALO TO INTRODUCE STARLINK ACROSS ITS ENTIRE FLEET OF HIGH-SPEED TRAINS

Rome, February 12, 2026. Italo, Italy’s first private high speed rail operator, will introduce Starlink ultra-fast internet, becoming the world's first major high-speed rail company to equip its entire fleet of trains with reliable connectivity.

Starlink is the world’s most advanced satellite constellation using low Earth orbit to deliver broadband capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, video calls, and more. With reliable high-speed, latency connectivity, Starlink enables an unparalleled broadband experience to passengers and crew traveling by rail. . The issue of Wi-Fi connectivity aboard high-speed trains has been a hot topic for years in an increasingly connected society: travelers on high-speed trains continue to work on board, connect to online meetings, or use their travel time to browse the web and watch movies and TV series. Italo wanted to provide a reliable solution to millions of travelers, who will finally be able to navigate steadily and quickly, ensuring a widespread and responsive network.

After nearly a year of testing Starlink on trains traveling 300 km/h, Starlink delivered speeds up to 400+ Mpbs and low latency of 25 ms. Among passengers who used Starlink (on the train on which the tests were being carried out), 85% said they were fully satisfied: on a rating scale of 0 to 5, 32.5% gave a score of 4 and over 51% gave a score of 5, the maximum score. Approximately 80% of passengers also rated their browsing experience while using Starlink better than in the past. Italo is pleased to introduce Starlink on its fleet beginning mid 2026 and conclude in 2027.

Starlink will deliver reliable connectivity and transform the high-speed rail travel experience, with seamless streaming, gaming, and more. This agreement represents the first step in a broader project to expand multimedia services onboard trains. Over the course of 2026, the entertainment options available to travelers will expand, allowing them to quickly, safely, and enjoy a wide range of innovative products and services thanks to the new connection.

"The agreement with Starlink is an important and strategic one, confirming our commitment to improving the travel experience. We understand how connected the world is today, which is why we

decided to invest in offering travelers this opportunity. We are the first major high-speed rail company in the world to focus on this technology" said Gianbattista La Rocca, CEO of Italo.

Starlink provides reliable, high-speed connectivity in challenging areas due to lack of infrastructure or natural obstacles. We are thrilled to bring Starlink to Italo’s fleet and transform the high-speed rail travel experience in a particularly geographically challenging region like Italy” commented Jason Fritch, Vice President of Starlink Enterprise Sales at SpaceX.
